Barbie Plays Nice on Social Media

Barbie Plays Nice on Social Media

BE REAL
Barbie likes having friends. A real friend listens, is there for you, and their door is always open.

Unfortunately on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, Barbie has noticed that some people will insincerely ask to be your friend. It soon becomes evident that they want YOU to be THEIR friend, but they don’t want to be YOURS. This type of friendship is one sided. By appearance you may look like friends, but the truth is you’re not. More than likely this new friend wanted to increase the LIKES and FOLLOWERS on their page, or they’re trying to show that they are popular or important.

Inviting new people to your page isn’t a bad thing. In fact, you can meet some really neat individuals this way, and form lasting friendships.

A deceptive person will use you by offering to swap LIKES, with the intention of HIDING all of your posts, or UNLIKING you later.

CONTESTS, SHARE DAYS, and raffles to increase traffic to one’s page to garner likes and fans, isn’t a bad thing. After all, if you’re writing about a hot topic, selling something of value, or searching for like-minded people, it’s a great way to invite others into the fold and to be discovered. But this type of promotion will also attract a lot of unwanted followers who arrived for the freebie, and will unlike you later.

BE AUTHENTIC
When Barbie visits websites and blogs, she likes to discover a person’s individuality and sincerity. She likes people who are genuine and honest about what they are doing. There is much to learn from one another and discovering new ideas and inspiration on the Internet has never been easier.

But all too easily, a person can create an image online that doesn’t mirror their true selves. Afraid of losing friendships or followers, some people stop being authentic online.

Selling and having advertisers sponsor on one’s page isn’t a bad thing. It’s a great way to offer a product or service that reflects the mission of the page.

But when a person feels trapped or fooled into visiting a page, and they’re not delivered what was promised, it becomes obvious to Barbie that this person wasn’t being authentic.

BE YOU
Barbie loves being unique. Barbie loves the courage that it takes in others to be unique. Bottom line, everyone is different. What kind of world would it be if there was only one super hero, one flavor of ice cream, or one type of car?

Not everyone likes cats, not everyone likes sports, and not everyone likes Broccoli. But that’s okay. There are plenty of people who DO.

The beauty of social media is that our world has become a smaller place. Never in history has it been easier to make friends INSTANTLY from different continents and at different time zones THAT FEEL AND THINK THE SAME WAY AS YOU.

If the world is big and wonderful enough for us All to uniquely express ourselves then why stop being real? Why stop being authentic? Why stop being you?
